I'll be Osun Gov one day, says OSCOTECH pioneer Rector's son, Kunle Odeyemi





Mr. Kunle Odeyemi, one of the sons of the pioneer Rector of the Osun State College of Technology [OSCOTECH], Esa-Oke, Osun State, Prof. Olu Odeyemi, said he will be Governor of Osun State in the future. 
Kunle Odeyemi, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Greenus Capital Limited, Lagos, disclosed this during an interview recently at the Obafemi Awolowo University [OAU], Ile-Ife, Osun State. He said his late father always advised his children to go into politics. The junior Odeyemi said his father made profound impacts in his life and his other brothers. 

''I am going to be governor of Osun State one day.  My father always told to go and join politics'', he said.


The Odeyemis hail from Iloko-Ijesa, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State. 

The late Professor Odeyemh was a lecturer at the OAU. He also aspired to govern Osun State.

Pensioners protest in Ibadan over poor pay

They staged the protest at the front of the Southwest Regional Office of First Bank, Dugbe, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The retirees, elderly men and women, who   alleged that their pensions had not been increased in the last 20 years,  stood united in a protest born of desperation and decades of what they felt was injustice.  Their spokespersons,  Prince Debo Olaoya, Olusola Adekoya, and Sanjo Akanmu, said despite their faithful service to the bank, their monthly pensions are demeaning and degrading. Olubadan joins ancestors two days after 90th birthday

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has joined his ancestors for two days marking his 90 th  birthday.   Owolabi Olakulehin, passed away in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, exactly one year after he ascended the throne. Mr. Toye Arulogun, one of the members of the Olubadan Media Team confirmed the development to The Guardian in Ibadan.   ''I can confirm it. We will soon issue an official statement on it'', Arulogun, who was a former Commissioner for Information in Oyo State, said.    Born on July 5, 1935, Oba Olakulehin’s death,  was officially presented with the staff of office by Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on July 12, 2024, becoming the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland. Oba Olakulehin ascended the throne following the demise of Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who died at the age of 81 years on March 14, 2024.

UI Celebrates its researchers who won awards, grants

The  Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale,has lauded research teams from different departments of the university who won the TETFUND Institutional Based Research Awards and a China-Nigeria Joint Laboratory Project for Soil and Water Conservation; and Agricultural Sustainable Development Grant on behalf of the university. Adebowale  made the commendation at an award presentation ceremony held in honour of the researchers.
