Ondo Varsity Registrar is Dead

The Registrar of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Ondo State, Mr Ezekiel Imoleayo Adeniran is dead.

The devasting news has thrown the University into mourning, as it was shocking! He was still at his duty post on Monday, 14th July, 2025. As at the time of writing this statement, the cause of his death is yet to be ascertained.

Mr Adeniran assumed office as the third substantive Registrar of UNIMED on the 6th January, 2025 and remained so until his sudden demise today, 17th July, 2025.

The Public Relations Officer of the university,Isaac Oluyi,  in a statement  made available to journalists  said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family and the entire University community in this trying moment.May God repose his soul"

They staged the protest at the front of the Southwest Regional Office of First Bank, Dugbe, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Olubadan joins ancestors two days after 90th birthday

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has joined his ancestors for two days marking his 90 th  birthday.   Owolabi Olakulehin, passed away in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, exactly one year after he ascended the throne. Mr. Toye Arulogun, one of the members of the Olubadan Media Team confirmed the development to The Guardian in Ibadan.   ''I can confirm it. We will soon issue an official statement on it'', Arulogun, who was a former Commissioner for Information in Oyo State, said.    Born on July 5, 1935, Oba Olakulehin’s death,  was officially presented with the staff of office by Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on July 12, 2024, becoming the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland. Oba Olakulehin ascended the throne following the demise of Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who died at the age of 81 years on March 14, 2024.

UI Celebrates its researchers who won awards, grants

The  Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale,has lauded research teams from different departments of the university who won the TETFUND Institutional Based Research Awards and a China-Nigeria Joint Laboratory Project for Soil and Water Conservation; and Agricultural Sustainable Development Grant on behalf of the university. Adebowale  made the commendation at an award presentation ceremony held in honour of the researchers.
